Will you agree with me, if I say that elegance is often related with aesthetics? The answer to that question is yes.
Some of the images that come to our minds when we hear the word elegance are beautiful homes, neutral wardrobes and aesthetic visuals.
Recently, I have been thinking if elegance has less to do with the looks and more with how it feels. Because in today’s world, it is easy to create a beautiful life on the outside while the inside remains cluttered.
And many of us are tired of that mismatch.
Elegant Living isn’t about perfection
For a long time, I though living elegantly meant having everything figured out- always appearing composed, speaking perfectly and being organized all the time.
But with time I realized that real elegance is a simple concept. It is more about creating a lifestyle that supports your well-being and not exhausting. It is also about knowing what to focus on.
Elegant living, for me, now feels like peace.
Why we crave for a slower life?
Right now, we live in a fast-paced world, where everybody is in a run for something. Nobody has time for themselves.
Everything is faster now- faster content, faster opinions, faster success, which ultimately results in faster burnout.
There is an undeniable pressure on us all to perform well. A pressure to be always productive, always visible, and always improve ourselves in a way that drains us.
And this is exactly why I turned myself towards intentional living and minimalism. Not because I want a perfect aesthetic life but because I want more clarity.
What does intentional living mean for me?
Personally, for me, intentional living, is made of small decisions that helps me live a purposeful life that actually matters to me.
It is all about creating routines that is grounding, spending my time carefully, speaking thoughtfully, consuming less and connecting more deeply. But most importantly, it the decision to take rest without feeling guilty.
These are not too drastic or dramatic decisions, but together they change the way how life actually feels.
And that is real elegance- not perfection but presence.
What kind of life do I want to build for myself?
Like I said in the beginning, I don’t want to build a life that looks perfect just from the outside, but one that feels calm on the inside.
I am building a life that has space for thinking, space to create something meaningful, and space to live with a confidence that doesn’t need validation.
And this blog is part of that creation.
The Poised Journal is not a guide from a master but a simple journal from someone who is learning to live more thoughtfully.
One step at a time.
